130 acres of prime nesting habitat for waterfowl, woodpeckers, bluebirds and other cavity-nesting birds, plus 74 acres of rolling wildflower meadows, farmland and riverine forest along the Wallkill River. Parts of the land are being farmed, but the site is open to the public for walking, photography and birding.
Directions: The Preserve is located at the intersection of routes 207 and 416 in the Town of Hamptonburgh. Parking entrance is on Rt. 207 just east of the intersection.
NOTE: As of 4/23/07, MTA will begin a bridge repair project on the Port Jervis Line Bridge that crosses the Preserve property. Please do not block the gate when parking off of Route 416 so they may enter and exit the Preserve. Please use extreme caution if walking on the trails.
