Orange County Land Trust to Hold "Butterflies for Beginners" Nature Walk at
Hunter Farm Preserve, Wawayanda
Middletown, NY —
June 23, 2008
The Orange County Land Trust will hold its very popular family friendly nature walk "Butterflies for Beginners" at Hunter Farm Preserve in the Town of Wawayanda on Saturday, July 12 beginning at 10 a.m.
Butterfly enthusiast, naturalist and artist John Yrizarry will lead this hands-on discovery experience, and will identify the various butterflies found in our region and the flowers that attract them. All are encouraged to wear mud boots and long pants, and to bring close focus binoculars, if possible.
The first acquired property of the Orange County Land Trust, Hunter Farm Preserve is a 60-acre preserve of open rolling fields, woodlands and two ponds. It is host to a variety of wildlife and is open to the public year round, free of charge for passive recreation such as walking, birding and photography, and is available to groups and schools for educational purposes. Under Land Trust management, it will remain forever undeveloped and pristine. It is located in the Town of Wawayanda on Ethan Way, just off Mt. Orange Road.
In case of inclement or questionable weather, please call our office at (845) 343-0840 x12 for cancellation or rescheduling information.
