Scenic Hudson Honors Orange County Land Trust and Other Regional Land
Trusts for Saving Critical Land in the Hudson Valley
Middletown, NY —
July 3, 2008
Scenic Hudson, Inc, an organization dedicated to protecting and restoring the Hudson River, its riverfront, scenic vistas and working landscapes throughout the Hudson Valley, paid tribute to the Orange County Land Trust and other land trusts operating in the Hudson Valley, at a recent gala and farm tour in Dutchess County.
The Scenic Hudson Gala "Saving Iconic Landscapes" honored 13 regional land trusts whose work, according to Scenic Hudson, is critical to the future of the Hudson River Valley. These land trusts were honored for their commitment to preserving the forests, farms, mountains and meadows that give the Hudson Valley its very identity and quality of life.
"We are delighted that Scenic Hudson has chosen to honor the Orange County Land Trust and the work that land trusts throughout the region are doing so that the Hudson Valley remains a beautiful and ecologically sound place to live," said Deanna Prisco, president of the Orange County Land Trust.
With offices in Middletown, the Orange County Land Trust is the only land trust with a vision for preserving land and scenic byways in communities throughout the entire county. To date, the Land Trust has protected over 3,200 acres of land and owns and manages seven preserves that are open to the public, free of charge.
