Orange County Land Trust to Receive Proceeds from 2007 Country Roads Bicycle Tour
Annual Tour Celebrates Open Space in Orange County

Middletown, NY August 30, 2007

The Orange County Land Trust has been named a beneficiary of this year's annual Country Roads Bicycle Tour, organized by the Orange County Bicycle Club and scheduled for Sunday, September 9 beginning at the Warwick Valley High School.

This year's bicycle tour celebrates open space preservation efforts in Orange County with routes of varying lengths from 2 miles, 10 miles, 20, 40 and 62 miles. These routes will take riders along rural roads that highlight the scenic vistas and natural beauty of southern Orange County from rolling farmland to forested ridgelines. The bicycle tour is perfect for families with young children as well as experienced, longer distance riders. Frequent rest stops will be located along each route with plates of sliced fruit, cool juices and home-baked cookies.

All rides begin and end at the Warwick Valley High School, with games and raffles, a picnic banquet sponsored by Loughran's Irish Pub of Salisbury Mills and music by Emish, a Celtic rock band. Start times are staggered so that riders return to the high school for the festivities at about the same time.

Registration is available the day of the event. The cost is $35 per person, $15 for children under 12. For more information, go to www.ocbicycleclub.org.

The Orange County Land Trust is a nonprofit organization formed in 1993 committed to voluntary land conservation in and around Orange County. To date, the land trust has preserved over 3,000 acres of land through acquisitions, donations and placements of voluntary conservation easements and is an advocate for open space planning at the local, county and state level. The land trust owns eight preserves in Orange County which are open to the public, free of charge. For more information, please visit our website at www.oclt.org
