Orange County Land Trust to Benefit from 2008 Country Roads Bicycle Tour
Middletown, NY (OCLT)
Annual Tour Celebrates Open Space in Orange County
The Orange County Land Trust has again been named a beneficiary of the Orange County Bicycle Club's annual Country Roads BicycleTour, scheduled this year for Sunday, September 14 beginning at the Warwick Valley High School.
The bicycle tour, which attracts up to 1,500 riders from across the region, celebrates open space preservation efforts in Orange County with routes of varying lengths from 10 miles, 20, 40 and 62 miles. These routes take riders along rural roads that highlight the scenic vistas and rolling farmlands of southern Orange County. The bicycle tour is perfect for riders of all abilities, from families with young children to experienced, longer distance riders. Frequent rest stops are located along each route offering water and other beverages, plates of fruit and home baked cookies.
All rides begin and end at the Warwick Valley High School. There will be games, raffles, music and a barbecue lunch provided by Loughran's Irish Pub of Salisbury Mills. Start times are staggered so that participants return to the high school for the festivities at about the same time.
Registration information is available at www.orangecountybicycleclub.org.
The Orange County Land Trust is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to preserve the fields, forests, wetlands, ridgelines, and river corridors, as well as working farmland, in communities throughout Orange County through voluntary land conservation.
