Karin Roux has recently been named Conservation Director for the Orange County Land Trust.

Middletown, NY (OCLT)

Ms. Roux has worked as the Land Trust's Wallkill River Task Force Coordinator since February of 2007, working to increase public awareness of Wallkill River issues such as flooding and streambank erosion. In her new position as Conservation Director, she will be responsible for directing the operations of the Wallkill River Task Force and those activities concerning land use planning and land protection, especially as it relates to water related issues. She will focus on land protection, flood and erosion control, water quality protection, and assistance with zoning code review, development plan review and grant applications.

Ms. Roux received a Bachelor of Science degree in biology and psychology from St. Lawrence University and a Master of Science in biology from George Mason University. She was a Smithsonian Fellow and spent time as a Wildlife Intern in South Africa with the Mqubu Ntombela Foundation. She has worked as an adjunct instructor in the Biology Department at SUNY Orange.

"We are so pleased to have Karin continue as part of the team here at the Land Trust," said Executive Director Jim Delaune. "She has had such success on key Wallkill River issues and works very well with our community partners. We feel confident that she will continue to succeed in her new role as Conservation Director."
