As Part of Hudson River Valley Ramble: Middletown, NY (OCLT) Orange County Land Trust to Lead Guided Wallkill River Canoe Trip As part of the 9th Annual Hudson River Valley Ramble, the Orange County Land Trust will lead a free guided canoe trip on the Wallkill River on Sunday, September 21, 2008 beginning at 10 am at the Stony Ford Bridge in Campbell Hall. A moderate flat water paddle downstream, this 5-mile excursion is suitable for novices as well as more experienced paddlers. Guides from the Orange County Land Trust will point out areas of interest along the river, describing its natural history including its geomorphology, numerous bird and other wildlife habitats and the diverse ecosystems found along the river. Held weekends September 13 through September 28, the Hudson River Valley Ramble is a celebration of the Hudson River Valley National Heritage Area, with over 200 events featuring outdoor adventures and explorations, heritage site tours and cultural events in regions within the Hudson River Valley from New York City to Albany. A limited number of canoes are available, or participants can bring their own canoes or kayaks. All must bring their own lifejackets, sunscreen, water and snack.
